How To Make Your Long Distance Relationship Last |

By Ron Hubbard

Having a long distance relationship can be interesting. There are two main types of long distance relationships. There are those in a relationship, but they just happen to have to live apart for various reasons after they?ve lived close by each other. The long term goal is to keep the relationship alive and well until they can reunite. Then, there are those couples that live far apart, and they fall in love even though they have distance. These couples have to build on that love and make it work out even though there may be distance for a long time to come. No matter what the case is, if you have an honest, open relationship and can communicate with one another, you can always make long distance relationships work.
Terms

You must establish the terms of your relationship in the beginning. Talk to your partner about what your expectations are and find out what the reality will be. Discuss how and how often you will communicate, and how often you?ll see each other. Decide how you are going to visit each other who will pay for what. Next, make sure you?re on the same page about whether you?re in a monogamous or open relationship.

Communication

Saying I love you can be done in millions of ways, and you should take advantage of this. Text it, phone it, write it, you name it, do it. It might not hurt to get a little sexy either. Also be sure to send gifts ? a box filled with your partner?s favorite sweets or surprises are always an amazing way to keep a relationship alive.

Encouragement

When you and your partner are apart, it?s always good to encourage each other every single day. When you are apart, you don?t get to feel that hug, squeeze of the hand, or goodbye kiss that most couples enjoy. Think of your partner and what they may be going through. Pick up the phone, send an email or just reach out and tell them that you are thinking of them. Wish them good luck on a job interview or congratulate them on a recent promotion. Be as verbal as you can be with your partner and encourage each other all the time.

Keep Busy

Instead of worrying about when your phone will ring, stay busy. This will really benefit your relationship. Do things you enjoy and then share them with your partner when you are reunited. In fact, I suggest throwing yourself into work, hobbies, charity, whatever it is you do when you?re separated, so that when you?re together, it?s that much more special. Furthermore, you can make sure you never have to work while you?re supposed to be spending quality time together!

Being in a long distance couple can seem to be tough, but with good communication skills and some understanding, you can make any distance work!

Small Businesses Hire When Their Revenues Rise

In the discussion of why small businesses are not creating as many jobs in the current recovery as they have in past economic expansions, one simple fact has been missed by many observers: small businesses create jobs when they need more employees. And companies need more employees when they sell more products and services.

Data from the recent Wells Fargo Small Business Survey, a quarterly survey of small businesses with no more than $20 million in annual sales, illustrates this pattern clearly. Since Wells Fargo began collecting their data quarterly in the second three months of 2007, the correlation between the percentage of owners who indicated that their business?s revenue increased over the previous 12 months and the percentage who indicated that their business?s employment went up over the same period, has been 0.9. (A correlation of 1.0 means that two numbers move together perfectly, while a correlation of 0.0 means that there is no relationship in the movement of the two numbers.)

While fewer small companies decrease employment than suffer revenue declines and fewer small businesses increase employment than experience revenue increases, the two numbers clearly move in concert. Therefore, if we want small businesses to hire more, we need to help them boost their revenues.

Canon Vixia HF R300

With video-capable phones and cameras, consumer camcorders?are in a tough spot when it comes to balancing price and usefulness. The Canon Vixia HF M50?($649.99, 3 stars) captures great video, but at that price, you might as well get a high-end digital camera that also takes great still images. The Canon Vixia HF R300 ($349.99 direct) falls in the lower range of the company's consumer camcorder line, but offers a far more compelling combination of performance and value. It lacks some of the low-light prowess found in the M50, but takes the advantage with a wider angle lens and 32x optical zoom. The smaller sensor still produces some great looking high-definition video, making the R300 a solid choice for the weekend videographer looking for a no-frills, easy-to-use standalone camcorder.

Design and Features
The R300 looks a lot like the higher-end M50, measuring 2.2 by 2.1 by 4.5 inches (HWD) and weighing in at 8.8 ounces. It feels a bit flimsier than the M50 (2.5 by 2.7 by 4.8 inches / 10.9 ounces), but is still comfortable to hold and shoot for long periods. The control layout is nearly identical on the R300 and M50, with a Record button on the right side, where your thumb naturally sits, and a zoom rocker on top, within reach of your index finger. In the LCD recess are Video Snap, Home, and Playback buttons, as well as a 3.5mm headphone and microphone jack, mini HDMI out, and mini USB out. There is no built-in memory, only a single slot for an SD, SDHC, or SDXC card. The lens cover is engaged and disengaged by a small switch to its right, which is less convenient than the automatic cover on the M50.?

All controls are accessed with the 3-inch touch-screen LCD. It definitely gives the R300 a clean and minimalist look, but I found navigating the touch menus to be a bit cumbersome. Focus, white balance, and exposure are all buried in touch menus, and getting precise control is too difficult. With this type of camcorder, however, I expect most users will stick to the fully automatic mode, which I found to be fast and accurate in most situations. The 230k-dot LCD is the same as the one found on the M50, and is still a bit too grainy and dim for bright outdoor light.

The R300 uses a smaller 1/4.85-inch HD CMOS sensor, but also packs a far more versatile lens. The 32x zoom lens features a 38.5-1232mm focal length (35mm equivalent) with an f/1.8-4.5 aperture, which is wider and longer than the M50's 10x zoom (43.4-436mm) with its f/1.8-3.0 aperture. Canon advertises a 51x zoom factor, using what it calls the Advanced Zoom feature, but really this is just a combination of optical and digital zoom.?

Performance and Conclusions
Though it lacks the "Pro" designation found on the M50, the R300 is a capable shooter, capturing crisp and clear high-definition video. You can choose from three shooting modes?Auto, Manual, and Cinema?with the latter simulating the look and frame rate of most film projects. Video format and quality can also be adjusted, with the highest setting, MXP, recording 1080i60 video in AVCHD format. Much like the M50, the R300 is limited to interlaced video as opposed to progressive, capturing 60 interlaced fields per second and encoding the video at 30 frames per second.

The resulting video is very similar to the M50, which is to say good, with sharp detail and fine textures. White balance is a bit less accurate with the R300, with colors skewing towards cooler hues. The smaller sensor means smaller pixels, which results in reduced low-light performance. The difference is most evident in the amount of image noise apparent in low-lighting situations. The M50 excelled, while the R300 showed noticeable grain in low-light. It didn't ruin the video by any means, but it is evident when playing back on large screen HDTVs.

Image stabilization is solid, helping steady shots at both the wide end and telephoto max. The 32x zoom is impressive, and could really come in handy if filming, say, a school play from the back row of a large auditorium. Obviously even powered image stabilization can only do so much, and when fully zoomed, video had the same dreamy wobble found on the M50, though it was a bit more noticeable on the R300. Autofocus was quick and accurate, and I actually encountered fewer instances where the focus would shift to the background inadvertently than on the M50. Audio quality was on par with the M50, with similar issues with picking up wind and other ambient room noises. And as with the M50, the R300 has a 3.5mm mic input for better audio capture with an external microphone.?

When compared with video captured by a point-and-shoot camera, like our Editors' Choice Canon PowerShot S100?($429.99, 4.5 stars), the R300's video lacked some of the saturation and vibrancy, but was able to achieve similar levels of detail and sharpness. The R300 does have an advantage in moving shots, like a slow pan, where the S100 turned in slightly choppy video. Still images, which are captured at 2-megapixel resolution, however, don't loook great on the R300, with too much image noise and loss of finer details.

The Canon Vixia HF R300 strikes a solid balance between performance, features, and price. At $349.99 it's less expensive than most digital cameras that shoot comparable video. It lacks the built-in memory, Wi-Fi, and low light performance of the M50, but also costs considerably less. A solid camera like the PowerShot S100 is more versatile, taking far better stills and capturing relatively sharp 1080p video. However, if you're sold on the traditional camcorder form-factor, the R300 is a solid, easy to use, and relatively affordable option for more casual shooters.

Newest WSU football coach doesn?t skip a beat

Given that Weber State University went from the ninth football coach in school history to the tenth without so much as a single snap in an official game, Jody Sears faces one of the most intriguing coaching challenges in the country.

The Wildcats? interim coach since John L. Smith departed unexpectedly after spring practices to become the coach at Arkansas, Sears didn?t come into the role on the traditional career trajectory, but his journey to the head coaching job at Weber State is as interesting as the road in front of him.

Sears, 44, a Pullman, Wash., native who played wide receiver at his hometown school of Washington State and was the co-defensive coordinator there the past three seasons, never seems to be far from the initials W-S-U.

Growing up, Sears? father ran the quarterhorse breeding program in the animal science department at Washington State. His mother forbade her young cowboys from riding bucking horses, so Sears? first love was roping steers; he dreamed of competing at the National Finals Rodeo.

Sears also had a love of football, which he followed by walking on at Washington State, where he became a two-year letter winner, playing for Jim Walden, Dennis Erickson and Mike Price, who had been the coach at Weber State from 1981 to 1988.

No matter what challenges the coaching business may present Sears, he can take comfort in knowing that anything?s better than laying asphalt on an August afternoon in Arizona.

That?s what Sears was doing after graduating from Washington State in 1991.

Driving down the road with the asphalt crew in a dump truck with no air conditioning on a stifling Arizona afternoon, ?I was riding in the middle and we went past this little high school out in the country, Queen Creek High School. The guy sitting next to me said, ?Coach so-and-so at that high school just resigned ? they need a football coach,? Sears said. ?I?ve got my asphalt clothes on, and I said, ?What did you just say??

?Right then, something told me, ?Jode, you need to get in your car and you need to drive directly to that high school.? ?

He did. Without a teaching certificate, Sears couldn?t be the head coach, but he was quickly hired as the offensive coordinator for the football team, the head JV basketball coach and the head track coach.

A year later, he knew he had found his profession, so he sent his resume to all of his former coaches and teammates ? including Smith, who had been an assistant to Erickson at Washington State and was the head coach at Idaho at the time.

He got an answer back from Iowa State, where he became a graduate assistant in 1994 under Walden, who had coached him at Washington State.

Walden was fired that year after an 0-10-1 season, but Sears managed to stick around for two more years as a G.A. under new coach Dan McCarney.

On McCarney?s staff, Sears found a mentor in Larry Coyer, whose long career in the NFL and college football now spans stints as a defensive coordinator for the Steelers, Broncos and Colts.

After learning from Coyer, Sears was ready to put his new knowledge to the test. He did so as the defensive coordinator at NAIA school St. Ambrose in Davenport, Iowa.

From there, Sears went on to coach cornerbacks and the defensive line at a unique place to coach college football, Army, from 2000 to ?02. He then got his first taste of the Big Sky Conference as the defensive coordinator at Eastern Washington from 2003 to ?07 under former Wazzu teammate Paul Wulff.

Sears followed Wulff again to Washington State, a homecoming for him, but Wulff was let go last November, so Sears again got in contact with Smith.

Sears brought his wife, Molly, and their five children to Ogden to become the defensive coordinator at Weber State, never expecting to step into the head coaching role just a few months later.

His days are the same as before, he joked Thursday, just another 15 things on the to-do list and another 15 phone calls to make per day.

Sears says his biggest challenges at Weber State for the upcoming season are ?not to reinvent the wheel, and teach our kids how to lead.?

To reinvent the wheel would be to overcomplicate things and ignore the blueprint Smith and his staff had laid out for the summer, fall camp and upcoming season, Sears said.

?The foundation of the thing, the blueprint, the infrastructure, has got to stay the same. That?s what I mean by ?don?t reinvent the wheel? ? keep the plan moving forward, surround these kids with good people, surround these kids with other kids that have a shared vision, that want to win a championship.

?To me, that?s where the leadership comes in.?

As he prepared to make more recruiting rounds at in-state high schools Thursday, Sears said he can?t worry about his long-term goal of having the ?interim head coach? label become something more permanent.

?If I?m focused on being the head coach (in the future), if that?s all I?m focused on, it won?t happen,? he said.

?To me, that?s an outcome-based thought process. I?ve got to think about the process ? I?ve got to be at a high school in 45 minutes. That, to me, is where my focus is. I?ve got to focus on my day-to-day operations and focus on the process. The outcome will take care of itself. You?ve got to win the day.?

Paralyzed Woman Moves Robotic Arm With Mind | The Toonari Post ...

Paralyzed Woman Moves Robotic Arm With Mind

Wednesday, researchers reported stroke survivor Cathy Hutchinson did something she hasn?t been able to do in 15 years?move a bottle to her lips and take a sip from a straw. This may not sound like earth shattering news, but for Cathy and the researchers who created the technology she used, it was monumental?Cathy used only her mind to accomplish this task.

Cathy has been paralyzed as a result of a stroke she suffered several years ago.? Since then the 58-year-old has been unable to use her hands and has been in a ?locked-in? state meaning that although her brain worked, the connection between it and the area below it was lost. Cathy retained the ability to produce these signals despite not being able to produce any actual movement.

Cathy and a male patient in a similar state were connected to a computer by means of the BrainGate neural interface system. The BrainGate neural interface system involves the implantation of a tiny electrode?the size of a baby aspirin on the motor cortex. The motor cortex is the area of the brain that controls movement. This chip listens to the signals generated by the patient as they think about moving their arm, translates these signals and sends instructions to the robotic arm to produce the movement.

Cathy and the other patient, a 66-year-old man, were asked to perform various tasks including touching and grabbing foam balls. Cathy was able to accomplish the tasks set before her about 50 percent of the time with a prosthetic arm manufactured by DEKA and about 70 percent with a prosthesis made by the German Aerospace Center.

Even more impressive is that the BrainGate system was implanted in Cathy?s brain about five years ago and still produces signals although they are weaker than they were previously. The researchers speculate that this weakening could be due to scar tissue build-up.

The key factor in the production of this technology was programming computers to interpret the signals produced by the brain as movement. The researchers spent quite a bit of time training both the patients and the computers. The computer receives signals from the interface via a cable that is plugged into a port in the patient?s head. The researchers asked the patients to imagine moving their arm in the same way the researchers were moving a prosthetic arm. Later, the computer utilized these data banks when the patients were asked to move the arm.

This technology is of paramount importance to those who have lost the ability to move and the researchers are encouraged that this is among the first steps to independence for those afflicted with paralysis.

Europe's slump deepens; U.S., China lose momentum

LONDON/NEW YORK (Reuters) - The shadows over the global economy darkened on Thursday as the euro zone's private sector contracted, U.S. manufacturing growth slowed and China's once-booming factories faltered.

In Europe, a downturn that started in smaller states on the euro zone's periphery is now taking root in the core countries of Germany and France, where tepid growth had been the main ballast of support for the euro area economy.

"We are very much in a period of weakening global growth. It doesn't quite feel like 2008 yet, but the danger is we could get there quicker than we think," said Peter Dixon at Commerzbank.

The euro zone composite PMI, comprising the services and manufacturing sectors, fell to 45.9 from April's 46.7, its lowest reading since June 2009 and its ninth month below the 50-mark that divides growth from contraction.

The data sent German Bund futures to a record high as investors sought a safe haven, while the euro neared a two-year low against the dollar.

U.S. LOSES MOMENTUM, CHINA BRAKES

Europe's woes were felt across the Atlantic.

Financial information firm Markit's "flash" U.S. manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index slipped to 53.9 in May from 56.0, with slower export sales sapping momentum.

Markit, which also compiles the euro zone PMIs, released its U.S. index for the first time on Thursday but has been tracking data in the entire sector since late 2009.

"The cause seems to lie largely with weak export sales, which likely reflects the deteriorating economic situation in Europe as well as slower growth in China," said Markit chief economist Chris Williamson.

China, mired in its longest economic slump since the global financial crisis, got more bad news on Thursday when HSBC's Flash China PMI, the earliest indicator of the Chinese industrial sector, fell to 48.7 in May from 49.3, marking the seventh straight month it has been below 50.

The government's official PMI hit a 13-month high in April, but that gauge includes state-owned firms with better access to credit.

Nikolaus Keis at Unicredit lamented that recent Chinese data on exports, imports, industrial production and retail sales "all fell short of the most pessimistic forecasts," suggesting more trouble ahead for the world's second largest economy.

SUMMER SWOON FOR U.S.?

Manufacturing has been a bright spot for the U.S. economy, with the Markit index showing the sector has expanded for 32 straight months.

But as the pace of hiring across the economy has slowed, economists worry about whether demand will hold up this summer.

"We are seeing slower growth globally, including China," said Sam Bullard, senior economist at Wells Fargo in Charlotte, North Carolina. "Manufacturers remain cautious. We have seen evidence of softer equipment demand in the first quarter and that softness will likely continue into the second quarter."

China's government this week said it intends to speed up important infrastructure investment and signaled a desire to raise private investment in its energy sector. Its central bank has cut reserve requirements three times since November in hopes of cranking up lending.

The U.S. Federal Reserve, on the other hand, probably will not need to ease monetary policy further, New York Fed President William Dudley said on Thursday, though he refused to rule it out should the economy take a turn for the worse.

The Fed has already signaled intentions to hold borrowing costs at near zero for at least another two years.

GREECE ON THE BRINK, EURO CORE CRUMBLING

The stiffest challenge may rest with policymakers in Europe, who urged Greece not to quit using the euro but were said to be planning contingency plans just in case.

Leaders disagreed about the wisdom of introducing common euro zone bonds to relieve funding pressure on those countries struggling to reduce deficits and simultaneously boost growth.

The prospect of a Greek exit from the euro zone is now being openly discussed as the country battles political and economic upheaval and faces an election on June 17.

Beyond Greece, even Europe's core countries are running into trouble. The manufacturing sector in Germany, Europe's largest economy, contracted at a far greater pace than was expected, and its service sector saw minimal growth. In France, both sectors contracted faster than predicted by most economists.

German business sentiment also dropped for the first time in seven months in May, the Ifo think tank said, missing even the most conservative forecasts.

For the euro zone, Markit said the composite reading was consistent with gross domestic product, which stagnated in the first quarter, falling by at least 0.5 percent across the region in the current quarter.

"It clearly indicates that the evaporating sentiment seen in recent weeks as the Greece crisis has intensified is having a big impact on the economy," Commerzbank's Dixon said.

Across the channel, Britain's economy shrank by more than initially thought between January and March, hit by the deepest fall in construction output in three years.

Currency trading Method Outcomes | ApostolicCM.com Answers

I gotten these problem from one involving our listing people right now:

?? a person known as the actual forex money industry and the fact that that is generally market involving finance institutions throughout international locations. Performs this imply that, for instance, the particular EURO/USD swap rates are arranged between your Federal government Arrange as well as the ECB? Is that the way a costs are established minus the advantage of any kind of exchanging on any listed exchange any place else? Was looking for simple training with this certain position.? ? Stan Z ..

The actual forex trading area marketplace is largely the ?interbank? marketplace. This means almost all of the buying and selling quantity is conducted bank-to-bank such as involving Citibank and also Goldman Sachs, for example. This kind of investing is generally completed on behalf of bank buyers for example worldwide corporations, the banking institutions additionally invest each other equally in order to hedge their own forex direct exposure and to accept buying and selling opportunities.

This sort of market place framework matches the one for the majority of funds market place authorities debt buying and selling, for example which for all of us Treasury Securities and the like. You can think of that much like the over-the-counter niche for shares. Individuals deals dont proceed through an change, but you are done straight broker-to-broker.

In the forex and fixed revenue you will find big gamers similar to hedge resources which get involved with the industrial along with expense finance institutions. The worlds key banks will also be main members only at that stage within their tries to effect fx rates (currency trading) and/or interest rates (repaired revenue).

The particular financial transaction dimensions in the interbank market place are generally big : normally $5 million or higher. Certainly, the typical person investor wont be buying and selling anyplace in close proximity to which large. This is where the internet agents as well as currency trading sellers appear in to learn. They permit little merchants to perform purchases throughout significantly decrease sums. Actually, there is certainly at least one which will perform positions as small as $1.

This is exactly where many people have a touch stressed. Several currency trading traders really act as market manufacturers using their customers. What i mean is that they take the other part from the positions which can be done by their clients. This is something which will often occur in the stock exchange as well, particularly with OTC futures. The worry that men and women get with this particular could be the meant clash appealing in terms of price tag delivery that induce. Can be a dealer who will be using other part of your buy and sell going to be behaving in your best interest when you place on any trade?

Whilst it could be true that several unscrupulous retailers will take benefit of their customers in that way, We are very confident that a lot of them are not performing in opposition to their potential customers. His or her present liquidity for the industry along with create the propagate to do this. When theyve an extreme experience virtually any certain currency, these people counteract this through hedging inside interbank market or perhaps using yet another dealer. That is simply the same as the ground speculator in virtually any exchange.

Getting to the particular question of how rates acquire set, the marketplace does that will, not really your core banking institutions. Everyone financial institution and dealer is in fact setting its very own price. Which may appear a lttle bit unusual in this it could generate distinct rates everywhere. The simple fact with the make any difference is actually, however, in which price ranges in between traders along with banks have been likely to be extremely, extremely shut. You can find services for example Reuters exactly where dealer costs are aggregated and introduced inside info nourishes, making it possible for everybody to know the actual (as well as traditional) market place prices. Arbitrage investing will keep traders through pricing prices too far far from the other.

There is also investing in the futures trading market, and also the somewhat new foreign exchange bought and sold cash (ETFs). The adventure right now there, while just a tiny proportion of the world-wide market quantity, in addition leads to preserving prices inside collection across the board.

CARPE DIEM: No. 1 Barrier to Small Business Success? Not Taxes ...

This week is National Small Business Week, described as a time to celebrate the special impact made by outstanding American entrepreneurs and small business owners, according to the event's sponsor, the Small Business Administration.? So it's a good time to ask the question, What's the biggest barrier that small business owners face that prevents them from expanding, investing, hiring more workers, and becoming more successful?? Taxes?
Well, it turns out that small-business owners place relatively little weight on tax issues when surveyed, according to Matt Yglesias in his recent Slate article "Licensed to Decorate." Here's an excerpt:

"Small-business owners are much more concerned with something Washington rarely talks about: the country?s spreading thicket of licensing rules.

To be charged a high tax rate on your small-business profits, you need to be turning a tidy profit in the first place. Anyone in that position would surely prefer lower taxes but is fundamentally ahead of the game. The main barrier to entrepreneurship is not that you?ll pay taxes if you succeed?it?s that you might not make any money at all.

Over time, occupational licensing has become much more common. Morris Kleiner of the University of Minnesota and Alan Krueger of Princeton have found that in the early 1950s, less than 5 percent of the population worked in occupations covered by state licensing rules. Today it?s well over 20 percent.

Some of this is surely justified. But a wide range of these rules could be done away with entirely at basically no risk. Regulation is needed when it would make sense for a firm to deliberately engage in malfeasance. Dumping harmful toxins into the air is highly profitable unless it?s prohibited. Financiers can draw huge bonuses by taking on too much risk, only to wreck the economy later. In other occupations, though, shoddy work brings its own punishments. An interior decorator who can?t get recommendations from satisfied customers probably won?t remain an interior decorator for long.

In these cases, licensing rules raise the prices the rest of us pay, make it difficult for successful entrepreneurs to expand their businesses, and are often a major barrier to employment for the most vulnerable populations. New Jersey?s ban on high-school dropouts fixing locks sounds silly, but given the generally bleak prospects facing workers with little education, barring them from whole occupations is a big deal. States should take a good, hard look at their existing codes and ask whether mass unemployment isn?t generally a bigger threat to the public than rogue barbers [MP: Or rogue hairbraiders or eyebrow threaders]."

7 day program to self-improvement | Holistic Healing Hands

There are many ways to lose your sense of self-esteem.

For the next 7 days follow this program to self-improvement:

Day 1. Know your purpose
Are you wandering through life with little direction, hoping that you?ll find happiness, health and prosperity? Identify your life purpose or mission statement and you will have your own unique compass that will lead you to your truth every time.

This may seem tricky at first when you see yourself to be in a tight or even dead end. But there?s always that little loophole to turn things around and you can make a big difference to yourself.

Day 2. Know your values
What do you value most? Make a list of your top 5 values. Some examples are security, freedom, family, spiritual development, learning. As you set your goals check your goals against your values. If the goal doesn?t align with any of your top five values you may want to reconsider or revise it.

The number shouldn?t discourage you, instead it should motivate you to do more than you can ever dreamed of.

Day 3. Know your needs
Unmet needs can keep you from living authentically. Take care of yourself. Do you have a need to be acknowledged, to be right, to be in control, to be loved? There are so many people who lived their lives without realizing their dreams and most of them end up being stressed or even depressed for that matter. List your top five needs and get them met before it?s too late!

Day 4. Know your passions
You know who you are and what you truly enjoy in life. Obstacles like doubt and lack of enthusiasm will only hinder you, but will not derail your chance to become the person you ought to be. Express yourself and honor the people who has inspired you to become the very person you wanted to be.

Day 5. Live from the inside out
Increase your awareness of your inner wisdom by regularly reflecting in silence. Commune with nature. Breathe deeply to quiet your distracted mind. For most of us it?s hard to even find the peace and quiet we want even in our own home.

Day 6. Honor your strengths
What are your positive traits? What special talents do you have? List three ? if you get stuck, ask those closest to you to help identify them. Are you imaginative, witty, good with your hands? Find ways to express your authentic self through your strengths. You can increase your self-confidence when you can share what you know to others.

Day 7. Serve others
When you live authentically, you may find that you develop an interconnected sense of being. When you are true to who you are, living your purpose and giving of your talents to the world around you, you give back in service what you came to share with others -your spirit ? your essence. The rewards for sharing your gift with those close to you is indeed rewarding, much more if it were to be the eyes of a stranger who can appreciate what you have done to them.

Self-improvement lies within ourselves and how much we want to change for the better.

Media says Obama evolved, not flip-flopped, on major issues through the years

President Barack Obama has evolved ? again.?And again. And again.

In the week after the president voiced his sudden personal support for gay marriage, a move which two-thirds of Americans have concluded was primarily motivated by politics, liberal bloggers and media personalities have characterized the decision as an ?evolution,? rather than a flip-flop.

That terminology attracted its fair share of scorn from right-wing publications, which argued that the media was giving the president a pass during an election year. But according to the media, the president has been evolving for some time now on a variety of issues.

The New York Times doubled down on the ?evolving? lingo Sunday by characterizing the president?s shift in Afghan war policy during his term as a personal evolution.

Over the past three years, the president has ?narrowed the goals in Afghanistan, and narrowed them again, [and again]?, according to Sunday?s in-depth report by The New York Times. ?In interviews over the past 18 months, Mr. Obama?s top national security aides described the evolution of the president?s views on Afghanistan as a result of three rude discoveries.?

The piece subsequently attributes most of the president?s ?evolution? to retired Gen. David H. Petraeus, now the director of the CIA.

?Just think how big a reversal of approach this was in just two years,? one administration official told the paper. ?We started with what everyone thought was a pragmatic vision but, at its core, was a plan for changing the way Afghanistan is wired. We ended up thinking about how to do as little wiring as possible.?

Besides his ?evolution? on Afghan policy and gay marriage, which the media said the president was ?evolving? on long before his recent announcement, the media suggested that the president had also evolved on last summer?s debt crisis.

In March, the Washington Post published a lengthy piece on the president?s handling of last year?s debt crisis. The Obama administration was already taking substantial criticism for changing its mind numerous times on whether it wanted a vote on the debt ceiling to be linked to spending cuts, as well as whether it would support a short-term deal designed to raise the nation?s borrowing limit.

After one meeting between House Speaker John Boehner and the president last July on a debt deal, Boehner?s staffers left the meeting ??energized by the prospect of a deal,? according to the Post.

Three days later, the deal was dead. Though the president?s advisers tried to blame the failed talks on Boehner, everyone in the room knew Obama was responsible, sources told the Post.

?Obama, nervous about how to defend the emerging agreement to his own Democratic base, upped the ante in a way that made it more difficult for Boehner ? already facing long odds ? to sell it to his party. Eventually, the president tried to put the original framework back in play, but by then it was too late,? the story read.

Within weeks, the president gave up entirely on his plan to court Republicans and abandoned the notion of meeting with congressional leaders every day until a debt deal could be reached.

[Obama] reviewed his strategy, concluding that it was time for a dramatic shift in approach,? the paper wrote. ?At the White House, economic advisers who had devoted so much time to meeting with House Republicans now turned their attention to drafting the American Jobs Act, a package that would extend a temporary payroll tax holiday, provide fresh money for roads and bridges ? and set up a new confrontation with Republicans.?

The Post?s headline for the piece: ?Obama?s evolution: Behind the failed ?grand bargain? on the debt.?

In fact, according to the media, the president began evolving on major issues before he was even president.

A 2008 New York Times article, headlined ?Obama?s thoughts evolve on U.S. troops in Iraq,? reconciled the then-senator?s claims that he would ?end the war in Iraq? with his revised plan to ?keep tens of thousands of troops in Iraq for at least several years.?

?An apparent evolution of Obama?s thinking can be heard in contrast to comments he made in July, when he called a news conference to lay out his Iraq policy in unambiguous terms,? the Times wrote.

As news broke in October 2009 that the president was slated to receive the Nobel Peace Prize for being a leading ? and evolving ? champion of peace, Obama took heated criticism for deciding to accept the award. He had just decided to order 30,000 troops into a war zone, angering critics on both ends of the political spectrum.

The Los Angeles Times downplayed the criticism in 2009 as a necessary symptom of the president?s ?evolving approach to global diplomacy.?

Here Is Some Different And Amazing Home Improvement Advice ...

A simple and affordable home improvement to make is to install peepholes in your doors. Know who?s out there when you open your door. Peepholes do not cost much money and are relatively easy to install. It only takes your time and a drill. A peephole will let you confirm that it really is your brother at the door rather than a home invader.

If your floors are covered with carpeting, use drapes appropriately to block out the sun. This is because the sun will change the color of your carpet and it will fade in the spots where the sun light shines. Avoid the morning and midday sun and try to make sure that your room is only getting the evening sun. Or at the very least limit the exposure to a few hours.

Finishing a project involving a basement is a good investment to start. By making a basement finished, you are creating extra room for you and your family. You can also get the material from a discount outlet. Finishing your basement can improve your homes value upwards of 30%.

Motion detector lights are a great improvement to make. Not only will you save some money, but you will also be able to add some extra security to the home. Motion detector lights turn on automatically when an intruder approaches, providing you with the element of surprise and saving you money on electricity! Unwanted guests may pass on burglarizing your home if lights suddenly come on, alerting you to their presence.

Roofs can get little leaks in them at any time, so using some 3 inch aluminum tape can help you to patch them up quickly and very effectively. Separate its paper backing and place the sticky tape on a clean surface. The tape bonds strongly to the roof and provides a waterproof seal that will prevent minor leaks.

When you look at any documentation at all from a contractor, focus on the type of paper it?s printed on. It might seem trivial, but you can tell a lot this way. Generally, professional businesses use letterhead, which means the business has likely been in operation for a while. This is an important metric to use to avoid scams. Of course, you still need to do other research, but dealing only with companies that use professional letterhead is a good start.

Check the health of your caulking. Make occasional inspections of the caulk around your tub(s) and sink(s). Many times small holes will start to show, and if moisture gets into the walls in the home, mold can grow and may cause respiratory troubles for some people. Water that seeps through any holes and cracks in the caulking can flow through to the floor, and that can cause it to rot. When re-applying, make sure you remove every trace of the old caulking, and clean and dry the area well. This ensures that the replacement caulk bonds properly. This is essential for forming a water-resistant seal.

Determine the changes you want to do prior to starting the renovation. This helps you stay on budget and within the time frame you set for yourself. Making adjustments here and there with no strategy can cause the completion date to drag and exceed the budget. Your contractors will appreciate and be ready to begin, if you know what you are looking for before the project starts.

How to Start a Home Based Business or Work At Home

How to Start a Home Based Business or Work At Home??

Article by Rick James

Go to any search engine and search for the topics of how to start a home based business or work at home and you could spend days sifting through the millions of results. With the worldwide economy being hit hard by the worldwide recession, with inflation on the rise, and the loss of jobs in the United States, many people are frantically searching for alternative ways to earn money, in order to gain some measure of security. Working from home using the internet to create a home base business is gaining momentum not just in the United States but throughout the world.

It is unquestionable that the internet is changing the way we do business on this planet. People are shopping without leaving home, nobody needs to actually visit WallStreet to purchase stocks, bank lines are getting shorter because people are paying bills online, and tedious jobs like searching for cars, homes, and clothes are easier because so much information is now available on the internet. Marketing is also easier for businesses because there are actually FREE ways to advertise online, and having a company website means customers can shop even long after the store has closed.

To start a home based business or to work at home, it doesn?t take a lot of money but it does take training. Anybody can make a website or blog for virtually no cost, and it is not difficult to find affiliate companies to give you a product or service to sell, however, when it comes to marketing, many beginners fall through the cracks. In fact, the big danger of getting into the work from home business without getting training first, is the danger of making poor decisions and spending too much money or getting into debt. And for so many people who are attempting to start a business because they are already in debt, this just doesn?t make sense. That?s why training is the number one most important element of starting a home based business.

For anybody who wants to work at home, find a mentor, coach, or trainer who is willing to help you and protect you from all the scams and schemes that are surfing the internet. There are dozens of online offers which promise that its easy to work from home and hint that its easy to earn large sums of money, if you will just start right away by typing in your credit card for a simple and easy payment plan. Don?t fall for it. While there are reputable companies, there are also unscrupulous companies that will continue to bill your credit card long after you have discovered that online marketing is not as easy as advertised. Always perform due diligence and do some research before giving out your credit card info, and most important, get some solid training before you actually begin attempting to start a business in your home.
