Top Senior Prospects for the 2013 NFL Draft: MAC

Last week we kicked off our comprehensive conference breakdowns with the Atlantic Coast Conference, which has produced consistent high draft picks and NFL talent.

This week we turn our attention to the MAC a non-BCA conference which has produced it?s share of NFL Stars. Players such as James Harrison, Antonio Gates, Greg Jennings, Ben Roethlisberger and Randy Moss all played their collegiate ball in the MAC.

Who are the next Mid-American Conference players to make their way to the NFL? We take a close look at the top Senior prospects heading into the 2013 college football season.

Here is a team by team breakdown of the top Senior NFL Draft Prospects in the MAC:

Western Michigan

1) Alex Carder ? QB ? Carder is probably the favorite for MAC player of the year and the top pro prospect in the conference. The record breaking QB managed to complete 65.7% of his passes and 31 touchdowns. Carder has been on the radar of NFL Scouts for awhile and can really improve his stock with a big year.

2) Dann O?Neill ? OT ? O?Neill is an underrated and versatile offensive lineman to keep an eye on in 2013. He stands over 6?8? tall and has experience playing both guard and tackle. O?Neill originally attended Michigan before transferring to WMU and was one of the top rated OT prospects coming out of High School.

3) Paul Hazel ? DE/OLB ? Hazel is an interesting prospect.?He is an athletic edge rusher who tallied 8.0 sacks as a sophomore. His production dropped off big time last year, but should be poised to put up some sacks. The problem with Hazel is that he is rail-thin. Listed at 6?5? 210 pounds, he will have to add substantial weight, but non-the-less has the athletic ability NFL scouts like to see off the edge.

Northern Illinois

1) Sean Progar ? DE ? Progar is currently an DE but will play OLB if he makes it to the next level. Progar was named All-Mac second team after posting 5.5 sacks and 11 TFL as a junior. Progar is regarded as one of if not the best defensive end in the MAC.

Toledo

1) Jermaine Robinson ? SS ? Robinson is one of a handful of legitimate Strong Safety prospects in the MAC. Robinson has tremendous size a 6?3? put could stand to add some muscle. Coming off a great junior year where he recorded 3 interceptions of which he returned 2 for a touchdown and 6.5 TFL. Robinson is a factor in both the run game and in pass coverage.

2) Cordale Scott ? WR ? Eric Page was a one man show last season for the Rockets. But, with Page opting to leave school a year early the #1 WR spot is up for grabs. Scott who transfer from Illinois is a high school teammate of current Toledo QB Terrance Owens. While Scott hasn?t produced big numbers yet, he has the size and frame to be a mis-match for MAC corner backs.

Central Michigan

1) Jahleel Addae ? SS ? Addae is one of the best defensive players in the MAC and has a chance to be a mid round NFL draft ?pick. Addae was a All-MAC team selection and the team?s defensive MVP. Addae was a play-maker all over the field as a junior recording over 100 tackles and 4 interceptions.

2) Cody Wilson ? WR ? Wilson is the Chippewa?s top offensive weapon. After a big sophomore season which he had over 1000 yards, he had a little bit of a let down as a junior. Central Michigan will try to get Wilson the ball anyway they can and he is a similar prospect to Toledo?s Eric Page.

Eastern Michigan

1) Garrett Hoskins ? TE ? Hoskins is the best returning TE to the MAC and a decent NFL prospect. A good all around athlete Hoskins is coming off a career best season where he posted 22 catches for 328 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Ball State

1) Travis Freeman ? ILB ? Freeman is a bit undersized at only 6? tall but he is a tackling machine. Finishing second in the MAC with 119 tackles as a junior. He has started every game except one for Ball State and is known for his football IQ.

2) Jason Pinkston ? CB ? No one might know who Pinkston is now, but by the end of the season you probably will. One of the most underrated corners in all of CFB. At 6?1? Pinkston has tremendous size for a CB.?Pinkston has 8 career interceptions and is poised to add to that total this year.
